If the Syriac CC uses a leavened altar bread, this is part of their tradition prior to coming into communion with Rome. Take a look at the pictures in this link to see both the Sriac and Armenian Liturgies and the breads used.

Did you have a chance to llok at the pictures that I linked? That should give you some idea about shape and size for altar breads.
