Since both Patriarchs were in full vestments, one assumes that both Patriarchs - Gregory of Antioch and Sviatoslav of Kyiv - concelebrated.

Glad that a requirement for Patriarch isn't that he be fat and old. LOL

That's fantastic!! grin grin I never would have thought that he would attend, let alone step foot into the cathedral. Where was he situated?

I am very happy for the new patriarch. After having read the latest post [whispersintheloggia.blogspot.com] on the Whispers in the Loggia blogsite, I am beginning to wonder if His Beatitude will eventually become His Holiness!

God grant him many, many blessed years!

It is great to see Greek Catholic patriarchs (emphasis on the "s") concelebrating.
I am sorry if this goes way off topic, but now I kinda wonder how the Greek Catholic Patriarchs order the diptychs for the commemoration of patriarchs. I'm quite sure that the Pope of Rome will be the first on the list, but how about the rest of the patriarchs? Anybody has an idea how it is ordered?

There are not many Greek-Catholic Patriarchs. But the correct order is:

The Patriarch of Antioch, Alexandria, and Jerusalem;

The Patriarch of Kyiv-Halych and All Rus.

I don't remember any other Greek-Catholic Patriarchs off hand.

On Sunday, Patriarch Sviatoslav took precedence, because it was his enthronement and his Cathedral.

Father Serge,
Am I correct to conclude that the other Eastern Catholic Patriarchs (Maronite, Syrian, Coptic, Armenian, Chaldean, and others) are not included in the dipthycs of the Greek Catholic Patriarchs?

Father Serge,

aren't you forgetting His Beatitude Lucian (Mureşan) of the Romanian Greek-Catholic Church?

What about His Beatitude Lucian Mureşan, Major Archbishop of the Romanian Greek Catholic Church? Wouldn't he be regarded as a patriarch?

Edit: Oops, I see Latin Catholic just posted before me.

Is the Order of Precedence provided by Canons 59 and 60 of the CCEO inapplicable or disregarded?
