My mother's parish church is being restored and refurbished from its late 1960s do-over. A gentleman donated the entire amount for this project.

The link shows much of the work being done. I am impressed that they have uncovered the angels in the altar area that had been painted over and the new altar that has been installed.

This church had a Byzantine Romanesque flavor until it was painted over in the renovations of the early 1970s. It's being restored thanks to a very generous gift of $1 million from one member.

For those who yearn for the 1962 Liturgy, it will be able to be served on the new high altar--a completely marble construction that required a floor reinforcement because of the weight involved. Some of the pictures show that part of the construction.

I'm amazed at what they are able to have done for the amount donated since my own parish church, built in the mid 1990s cost twice as much and is so plain, with nowhere near the workmanship done inside. Everything is being done from the roof and ceiling to wiring and heating to restoring the woodwork painted over to pew refinishing and upholstery--and it goes on and on.

They're done. The consecration took place last evening with Bishop Donald Troutman of Erie, PA, presiding. The renewed interior is seen in the last group of pictures.
