Hello, I am a Roman Catholic and I would like to go to confession in a Byzantine Catholic Church. What is the "procedure" for a BC confession. Roman Catholics enter a confessional and say "Forgive me Father for I have sinned. It has been (however long) since my last confession." Then you confess your sins, the priest absolves you and gives you a penance.
How is the Byzantine Catholic method similiar or different than that?

I see that no one has responded to this inquiry. I don't feel qualified to give a response but would also be interested in hearing from someone well versed in this area.

I would like to know more about confession in the Byzantine rite as well. I would be extremely nervous to go not knowing. I would ask the priest at the parish where I have been attending DL on Sunday but he is busy and I don't want to bother him.

This was discussed a few years ago on this forum. It starts with post #283833 but I don't know how to link there.

Your words of confession as you stated is sufficient. It's not the words that count but the sincerity.
Have no fear; you will not be chastised because you used the wrong words.
