From time to time, public education (both elementary and secondary) has been brought up in threads on this forum. A number of posters have been highly critical, generally speaking, of public education. Personally, I have often been critical, and that has increased since I have worked in public schools.

I am interested in what other posters have to say concerning problems in the classroom with respect both to what is (and is not) being taught and to instructional technique/methodology.

Comments from all are welcome, but I'm especially interested in opinions of the following groups: those who have finished high school in the last several years; those who have taught in public education, particularly within the last 20 years; those who have had children attend public schools; those who have taught on the college level; and those who have recently employed graduates of the public schools.

No takers? I'm not looking to start arguments. I'm really interested in what people have to say about this issue.
