According to Asianews [asianews.it] Turkey will return seized property to religious minorities. We are speaking of about 1000 properties to the Greek-orthodox Christians and 100 to the Armenians.

As usually in the last 5 centuries, the Latin Catholics will continue to be discriminated, because this rule will be valid only for the Christian Churches who were formally recognized before 1923 by the Ottoman Empire.

I wonder if this includes the Halki seminary. Fantastic news for the Greek Patriarchate. Let us hope that churches not covered by this see their property returned as well.

With respect to the OP, why do some feel compelled to add a 'gotcha' to good news. I see more of this on the Orthodox board that I frequent, but it pops up here from time to time.

Thanks be to God for this decision and prayers that it is the first of many that will help to fully restore the rightful place of our Churches in Turkey.

The Patriarchate never lost the Halki Seminary, it was simply closed as an educational institution by the Turkish Government. It is the college that the Church wishes to re open but can't at present.

cool
