No, it's the Mandelyion of Edessa, discovered there in the 4th century, brought to Constantinople in the 9th century, and the prototype for all Epitaphio thereafter.

well, I dunno. Not that link below is the definitive take on the matter; the cerebral frosting of skeptics is anathema to the subtleties of Faith, but it does put forward seemingly empirical findings and in that sense appears informed by more than a guess.
