I have not been able to confirm this via any reliable source, but I have heard from several people on facebook that Bishop Andrew (Pataki) died in a car accident today.

Can anybody confirm?

If this is true, Eternal Memory.

I've heard word that Bishop Andrew passed away today as the result of some sort of automobile accident. May rest in the peace of Christ.

For some reason, I find this news to be most shocking. A reminder of the fate of Auxiliary Bishop John Stock of the Ukrainian Archeparchy of Philadelphia, several years ago... it's perhaps a reminder also for us to be ready, because we may have to stand before the merciful Lord for judgment at any time.

As a child I was given to understand that to die on a feast of the Mother of God is to be regarded as most fortuitous; and Dec. 8/9 certainly is one of her feasts...

May that same Lord reward His servants Vladyka Andrew and Vladyka John; and make their memory to be eternal.

May the memory of the Lord's servant, the Bishop Andrew, be eternal.

Re: The official website of the Eparchy of Passaic.
With all due respect, one would hope they would fill in those ????'s with the actual date of August 16, 1985.
The date of 1984 could be exacted a little further. That would be June 19,1984.

Well that's two clerics I knew who died in a little over a week. My university chaplain Fr Kenan Morris OFM died at 89 on Nov 30th.
Eternal Memory to both!.+
