I was in Bridgeport a few weeks ago and took some pictures of the old St John the Baptist GC church on Arctic Street. It closed in the 1970's and I believe its successor church is St John's in Trumbull. Arctic Street was once the heart of the Slovak neighborhood in Bridgeport. The building now belongs to Holy Ghost Deliverance Cathedral. The Deliverance Cathedral left the 3 bar crosses in place. listopad, Yes, St John's in Trumbull is the successor to St John's in Bridgeport. Great photos (you've obviously got a nice telephoto lens). May I have your permission to copy one of them for use in the directory's historical entry on St John's? Many years, Neil

Irish Melkite, You may certainly use any of my photos for the historical entry. These pictures were taken with a Motorola Android cell phone camera! I did a little cropping and compressing on MGI Photosuite. Wouldn't it be great to go back in time to the early 20th century and attend services at St John's? The late father of a friend of mine was a member of this parish.
