Pastor Dobson's story brings to mind lines of George Neumark's mid-17th Century Hymn If you but Trust in God to Guide you

Sing, pray, and keep His ways unswerving,
Offer your service faithfully;
And trust His Word, though undeserving
You'll find His promise true to be...
For Him who took for you the Cross
Will see you safe through ev'ry loss.

Hm, we sang that hymn in the Methodist church, but the wording was:

"Sing, pray, and keep God's ways unswerving
So do thine own part faithfully
And trust God's word, though undeserving
Thou yet shalt find it true for thee.
God never yet forsook at need
The soul that trusted God indeed."

Sigh. Methodists really do do it better. wink
