My mother Eloise (age 87) did well physically following triple by-pass surgery last May but her mental health has taken such a steep nose-dive that beginning on Christmas Day, 2011 she had to spend 40 days or so as an in-patient at the psych ward of a local hospital. Last week she lapsed into psychosis and was taking to a local hospital from where she has been transferred to a psychiatric facility in a Dallas suburb. Please pray that God's Will be accomplished in her life and in mine; and for guidance for her medical care-takers. This is a bewildering, stressful and alarming time for her and me. Thank you.

Thank you for your prayers. We're still at sixes and sevens over this awkward, unpleasant problem so please continue praying. It's all so complicated...but may God's will be done.

How could I possibly love my mother more than God does, even if she finds religion to be a major annoyance?

I find myself inclined to entrust this situation to the intercession of St. Edith Stein, who had such a great love for her mother and whose decisions to become Christian and then later, a cloistered Carmelite nun, caused her mother so much sorrow. Her mother's grief saddened Edith as well...
