gc,
I won't swear to it, but I think that a miracle is now required for canonization of martyrs as well.
Many years,
Neil
Hi Neil,
Yes, martyrs -just like non-martyrs- need a miracle following beatification to be canonized. It was mentioned in my previous post:
Non-martyrs need a miracle for beatification and then a second miracle for glorification(canonization). Martyrs, on the other hand, do not need a miracle to be beatified. A miracle is needed following beatification for glorification (canonization). I have not heard as of yet a miracle under investigation that has been attributed to Blessed Nicholas Charnetsky and Companion Martyrs (one of whom is Blessed Leonid).
The only difference is that martyrs do not need a miracle to be beatified. Reading my post again, I could have written it more clearly. While I have your attention, you mentioned in a previous post:
There are other beatified Russian Catholics, as well as others who have been declared Venerable, and those declared to be Servants of God.
While I know there are
Servants of God [
en.catholicmartyrs.org], I am aware of Exarch Leonid being the only Russian having been beatified. I am stumped as to who are the others.
God bless,
GC
