+1 If history teaches us anything globally it is that small groups of motivated zealots more often than not seize upon popular discontent of the status quo and capture the popular 'revolution.' France, Russia, Cuba just to mention a few western examples. The masses in such states - including the mideast - have been emasculated by the state powers and regimes for so long that only the ideologically motivated groups are prepared to seize the moment. Carpe diem as they say.
Mocking the Eucharist--the Lord's Holy Body and Most Precious Blood--isn't unique to this alleged cleric. He almost osunds like some Christian fundamentalists I know.
I can already see what the Coptic Orthodox are thinking about this right about now... I live within a couple of miles of St. Mark COC, and I know friends that go to them, and can see the rage about this through them. Quite scary.
The fact that Christians are being crucified in Egypt should be on all the major news networks and papers, but they're silent about it!
It is scary how our (and British) press covers up any information about Christian persecution throughout the Middle East! Every country puts forth its own propaganda in what it reports and what it doesn't report in order to support its foreign policies, including our own....
I am very thankful for the news of the sufferings of my global brothers and sisters that is reported on this forum, for usually it is several days until it appears even in other conservative forums, and longer still until it appears in "normal" media, if at all.
This past Christmas was a Sunday. I was awake before dawn and decided to watch the sunrise while playing the Michael Praetorius Christmette Mass for Christmas morning on my computer. It was glorious--partiucularly since the Gradual Hymn was playing just as the sun broke over the horizon.
Then I made the "mistake" of logging onto here where I learned of the atrocities that had been committed earlier that morning in northern Africa.

No, he didn't "create" them, but there's little doubt that he supported the so-called "Arab Spring" 100%, even though there was plenty of evidence that this was only a front for the Muslim Brotherhood.
To think that 8 years ago someone on this Forum took me to task for remarking about Islam in Iraq as I saw it. Maybe by now they have a better picture.

Thank God for Mr Putin and Russia standing up for the Syrian Christians by supporting the Syrian Government. Alexandr kindly sent me the link to the MEMRI TV photo posted in this thread. While I do not support his taking a personal jab at our current president with the names he has posted, I do think it important that Christians know of the persecution that has begun and continues to our brethren in that region--a persecution that our media has ignored. I only wonder what would be the reaction in this country if this image were shown on the nightly news tomorrow evening.
That said, I believe that it may be soon time to close this thread, though it has been very educational to learn what Paul harvey used to call "the rest of the story."
