There's only one latin parish in my town of about 20 latin parishes that doesn't have alter girls, what in the world is going on?

<hope this is better, sorry>

Are u talking about Roman parishes or Byzantine parishes?

Altar girls are quite normal in Roman Catholic parishes, but do you mean that most Byzantine parishes of your town have Altar girls too?

Two questions:

1. How many parishes does a town of twenty need? biggrin

2. Alter girls? Is that like a post-op transexual or something? biggrin

Axios, simply in jest!

Chad and Odo,

In what ways do you wish to "alter" girls? This is a bit confusing.

Rose,

Thanks. But I thought Axios' comments were even beter.

I know I've made many grammatical and spelling errors in my life so I hesitate to criticize when others do so. I recommend a good dictionary...or even a simple one. Some of these mistakes could easily be corrected if more people used a dictionary.

Come on people you know what we are talking about.Should I use the original Greek wording or is there something else that would appease you.I also would like to say that I am very sorry for not being as learned as most in the areas of spelling and grammer. Yet I am very happy that Jesus will accept me as I am.

i have never seen girls or women serving in the Altar in either a Greek Catholic or Orthodox parish but women DO chant the Epistle, lead the choir (or cantor), hold the cloth for the Eucharist, carry icons in procession etc. Amen to the thoughts on the revival of the female diaconate!!

hehehehe Beter !!

Good one Dan - sorry I just could not resist

Just a thought - Admin can we have a "spell check " at an upgrade some time ? I know I would ignore it's 'Americanisations' but it would be a help to bad typists like me

I do apologize for bad spelling, but the comments that have been posted so far only point out how lightly this topic seems to be taken. Even by those in the Byzantine Church. Unfortunately I suffer from dyslexia, fear not I will use my spell check from now on and have my wife read over my post before hand. Thanks for you understanding.

Odo ,

I apologise if I have hurt you. I do make lots of typos and use to complain because I could not preview things before I posted. Despite the preview feature I can [ and do biggrin ] still make umpteen errors.

I don't think that any of us, Byzantines or Latins take these liturgical things lightly - I think it's 'cos we know there is really nothing we can do about it - complaints do not seem to be heard !

Please forgive our seemingly flippant attitude

Angela
