Proud American here. Military veteran and all that jazz. My wife and I live in Hanoi and we just had our first child. As much as I miss the gold old US of A, I will not be raising my daughter there.

It's not just about sexual immorality for me. Did you know that, here in Vietnam, children ask their parents if they can eat at meal times? And this isn't imposed on them by their parents; my students say its a respect thing that peers encourage each other to do. They also look forward to the weekend so that they can visit their grandparents.

Of course, there is plenty wrong here. No doubt about it. I won't keep my daughter here. But it really opened my eyes.
