Our Serbs here used to shoot off their guns when lighting the badnjak after the Complines. There's an OCA parish in the Flint area with a lot of Macedonians. During the outdoor water blessing on Epiphany, some of the men fire off their shotguns.
I prefer the Greek Old Calendar St. Markellos Cathedral in Astoria, NY; where a bagpipe band leads the procession to the water on Epiphany! The explanation given was that that is what Orthodox Celts did in Byzantium! The Scotsman in me was gratified by that!
