Dear Friends in Christ,

Our Pomeranian, Mookie, who has been with us for 14 years, died suddenly on Saturday.

He kept looking at me and then he stretched out on the floor with paws forward and placed his head on them as he quickly left us.

As we were completely unprepared for this and were looking forward to a long weekend with him, my wife and I have been heart-broken and in grief since and we even lit a candle in Church yesterday to thank God for having had such a wonderful companion in our lives for so long.

I ask for your prayers to help us overcome our grief.

Thank you. (His full name was "Mookie Lupus Wulfila," believe it or not . . .). I named him after the Arian Apostle to the Goths . . .

Alex

Like most people I love Poms. Very sorry for your loss. At least he died peacefully and knowing he was loved. We love dogs because they love us back. RIP Mookie.

Prayers for Mookie and for his servants. I am sure that Mookie is enjoying Paradise with a large supply of biscuits as he waits for his servants to join him.

Dear John,

Thank you for those consoling thoughts! Yes, we were his servants . . . And I'd do it all again in a heartbeat1!

So sorry for your very real pain and loss. I know personally of the depth of mourning for a beloved dog.

There will be many days when you will still expect to see Mookie in the house--coming into a room, going to his feeding bowl, etc. It takes time to get used to the void.

"Blessed are those who mourn, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven."

Take care,
Alice

Dear Alice,

You really do understand!

I see Mookie everywhere and think I will see him here or there. There is a terrible void only he filled.

When it all becomes too much . . . we will get another one. But please don't tell my wife I said so!

Dogs were given to Man as a gift from God to serve and protect us and love us and ask for so little in return. Their spirots loive in our hearts forever.

God (Whose Name in reverse is dog) created dogs so that man would know what unconditional love was. He created cats so that man wouldn't think he was God!

Thank you Otche Nastoiatele! And for everyone's loving words.

I spent most of the day today in tears. Then a cousin emailed a picture of herself holding Mookie . . .

Relatives . . . smile

Mookie appeared to me early yesterday morning. His tail was wagging and it was so very real. Then he gently disappeared.

I'm no longer sad. Thank you everyone!
