Saw this on CF.. my comments are stated first:

If Russia wants to play that game, perhaps they will unwittingly end up helping the Byzantine Catholics. For decades now the Russian Catholics have been denied a Bishop because Rome has been unwilling to upset the Russian Orthodox. Having claimed Crimea's Catholic Bishop Mykhaylo as a Russian citizen and his Church now (unofficially) Russian Catholic - they've indirectly re-established the Russian Catholic Church on Russian soil and declared their first hierarch recognized as bishop of the Crimean Eastern Catholics by almost all sides since Soviet liquidation.

Well, if the West doesn't care about Christians being martyred in the Middle East, why should it care about parishes being taken over by the ROC? Who will stop this anyway?
