I know we have been alarmed at some of the things the RCs do in the name of worship. I know that we are concerned that tinkering with the liturgy may well bring unintended very damaging consequences. I've just come across a video that shows just where some of these abuses may lead. It seems that there are limits to worship renewal. Take a look at this:

Got some real enthusiasm there...

Can-Can moves and everything!

I...uh...didn't see the Ark anywhere back there...

Reminds me of something the Monty Python group might try to pull off...almost like the fish slapping dance and the Ministry of Silly Walks!

I last heard that "hymn" sometime in the late nineteen-sixties, and I'll be more than happy to wait another forty years or so before hearing it again, and without the peculiar visual.

My dear friends,

I hesitated posting this. I do not wish to offend. You took it as a silly joke as I intended. It is simply an attempt to break the tension a bit in the midst of the serious issues with which we are dealing.

Actually, I believe the comedian who did this is a Christian man just being silly. However, I do recall seeing some things quite like this in my Charismatic Protestant days. There were/are excesses but the passion of so many in that movement was one of the factors that pushed me toward the Church. It is a strange and sometimes circuitous route that brought me here but for each step I thank our Lord Jesus Christ.

Glory to Jesus Chrirst!

Dear Dan,

...and here I thought it was you!!! :p wink

Actually, silly and irreverend though it was, it was welcome entertainment in comparison to what my eyes see daily on every single television station, cable or otherwise, day or night. This man was actually respectfully dressed and his dance was not sexually provocative...now there is a welcome change!

I've heard the hymn much more recently than Incognitus, unfortunatley.

Stephen Colbert is not only a Christian man, but appears to be Catholic. He is the youngest of 11 children (two of whom died with their father in a plane crash), was raised in a Catholic home, educated mainly by Episcopalians. He prefers satire, which explains his obvious disdain for liturgical dance that we saw here.

Did I miss something?
I totally failed to see what that had to do with liturgy in the Catholic Church.
But did not David leap and dance for joy before the Ark of the Lord, so much so that his wife was totally disgusted with him, that he was making a show of himself before all the people.
Give it a break and learn how to live, laugh and enjoy the life that God has given you.
Stephanos I
