Hello, does anyone know if for Russian Byzantine Catholics the Nativity of Mary is a day of obligation? (I looked at the list of the Eastern Catholic days of obligation and it wasn't listed, but that list are the feasts that are in common for all Eastern churches, and I am under the impression that particular churches might have additional feast days that are obligatory..)

thank you!

It is not a holy day of obligation. It is a solemn holy day though I believe.

It is one of the Twelve Great Feasts on which our presbyters are supposed to celebrate a Divine Liturgy.
The faithful should attend if possible. I think we need to get away from terms like "holy day of obligation' that require confession if liturgy is missed. We should attend Divine Liturgy if we are able to do so, not because we are under pain of sin.

In over 40 years of priesthood I have never heard a Greek-Catholic refer to a "Holy Day of Obligation"! With all due respect, the very concept is Roman Catholic, juridical and a bit bothersome in its impliations.

Ideally, and somply put, te expectation is that Orthodox Catholic Christians attend Vespers, the Praises, and Divine Liturgy on the Great Feasts of the Church.
