Here in the old country it is e vo veeky veekov (like cove, like vee-cove). At least in my geographical area where our people came from southeast Poland and Eastern Slovakia. Yes, I am being ultra-specific, but the parishes I speak of..most people's parents or grandparents where from a small area in the old old country.. they mostly settled in a certain county in my state, and more specifically in a certain number of towns.

Ok, on topic this I have to say. The UGGC parishes I have been too use old books that are falling apart. They do not have the filioque in them. The Ruthenian Parishes I have been to all seem to use the same pew book and I 've seen the filioque crossed out. So at least here the Filioque in the UGGC churches hasn't been around for quite sometime if you judge that factor by the ancient pew "books" that have pages that fall everywhere because they are in bad shape.

The Bishops got together and wrote the letter mentioned a while ago. In Manitoba and Ontario I believe it was implamented as of November 1, 2005. In the Eparchy of Edmonton (all of Alberta) the hope is to implament it universally starting January 1, 2006 (if he can get everything written up by then). Several parishes, including mine, have been filioque-less for a while. I am not sure when the other 2 eparchies (Saskatoon & New Westminster) will do so (perhaps they already have).

The reason the Patriarch has not declaired this for the whole Church is not

insufficient preparation of the laity or something like that
but it has something to do with dealing with other church like movements that they are dealing with in Ukraine, and not giving them ammunition. Patriarch has however given his blessing for those Bishops/Metropolia's outside Ukraine to restore the creed.
