A friend brought this to my attention. I have my well-used original paperback version plus a hard copy of the reprint, so I don't need this. Description is below.

Byzantine Book of Prayer 1976, Greek Catholic [ebay.com]

A rare and collectible 1st edition, printed in Belgium in 1977 (only 5,000 copies).

This original edition was published by Byzantine Seminary Press and Alleluia Press. Compiled by the Inter-Diocesan Liturgical Commission of the Byzantine-Ruthenian Metropolitan Province.

The prayer book is still in use by Byzantine Catholics, especially clergy. It includes texts of the Divine Liturgy (both, St. John's and St. Basil's) with the prayers for clergy, 2 Molebens, 2 Akathists, Christian Burial, Paraclisis, Vesper verses, Texts from Menaion, Triodion and Pentecostarion, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, psalms, troparia, and more. (see the content in the photos)

It's NOT a reprint (2nd edition) of 1996, but the original 1st edition.

I got the 1969 edition of this book for free last year. Very good book. I like the format better than the Black Book of Hours ( edition 2003 from the Basilians).

I just acquired the Byzantine Book of Prayer/Byzantine Seminary Press 1995 I understand it is no longer in print. Could someone tell me what it's worth is? Not that I want to sell it, I just read somewhere that it has monetary value. TIA

Glory be to Jesus Christ!!

Virginia,

Welcome to the forum. We hope your time here will be spiritually beneficial.

IMHO, any time one can find a book that is spiritually beneficial and it is out of print, it is priceless.
