Blessed Sunday to you all!

I wanted to ask what prerequisites (theological education, service time in the Church, other factors) are required in the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church to become a subdeacon. Is this a liturgical role that is often seen in parishes, or are subdeacons rarely ordained?

Thank you!

I can only offer from the Orthodox perspective: Subdeacons and Readers are Tonsured by the Hierarch, not Ordained. The recommendation of the parish Priest is as important,if not more important that the level of education.

In some jurisdictions one can be Tonsured a Reader, then Tonsured a Subdeacon, then Ordained a Deacon all in the same day.

What qualifications are needed to become a subdeacon in the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church? Does someone need special theological education or experience in Church service? Also, is the role of subdeacon common in parishes, or is it less frequently ordained?
