The general synod of the autonomous orthodox Church of Finland (EP) have on the 28:th of November elected Elia the Metropolitan of Oulu as the new archbishop of Helsinki and All Finland after archbishop Leo as the new primate of The Finnish orthodox Church. The general Synod was hold in the Holy monastery of Valamo/Valaam in Heinävesi. The Archbishop elected will travel to Istanbul on the 29:th of November where the Holy Synod of the Church of Constantinople will confirm the election of Archbishop Elia. Monia armorikkaita vuosia! Archbishop Leo has retired at the age of 76 years with the blessing of HH patriarch Bartholomeos. Multos Annos!
