Christ is in our midst!! From Life News.com The Church of Nigeria, representing over 18 million Anglicans, has declared spiritual independence from the Church of England, citing the recent appointment of a new archbishop who supports abortion as emblematic of the English church’s departure from biblical orthodoxy on life and family issues.
Archbishop Henry Ndukuba of the Church of Nigeria announced the break, stating, “The Church of Nigeria hereby declares spiritual independence from the Church of England. We can no longer walk together with a body that has chosen to bless sin and reject the clear teaching of Scripture.”
“We remain Anglicans — but not under Canterbury. Our loyalty is to Christ and the truth of His Word, not to institutions that have abandoned it,” Ndukuba said. He emphasized, “The Bible does not evolve with public opinion,” positioning the split as a stand for unchanging truth, including the defense of the unborn.

The above link contains an official letter, Oct. 6., by Bishop Ndukuba outlining his response to the Church of England. As one may readily note, the letter addresses the election of the new Archbishop of Canterbury....who happens to be a first ever "woman". ......Archbishop Sarah Mullally. Of course her name is not mentioned. The letter states that at her leadership is unacceptable on grounds that "..It is a double jeopardy; first, in its insensitivity to the conviction of the majority of Anglicans who are unable to embrace female headship in the episcopate." It goes on to state that, additionally, Archbishop Mullally is a supporter of same sex relationships, making the matter a " double jepardy". Abortion, notably, is not mentioned, although one can be sure it is part of the issue. However, I do not believe it is the primary issue for a severance of ties between Bishop Ndukuba and the Church, and that particular spin is the job of LifeNews.

When we compare the opposition of the African Catholic bishops to Fiducia Supplicans, it seems that there is a similar reaction going on. The African continent is supposed to be undergoing a rapid growth in Christian believers. Part of that may be related to core doctrines that bridge the divides that are so apparent in other parts of the world.
Africans are competing with Islam for the minds and hearts of the people. It seems that the attitudes toward so many changes in European and American societies just won't work in Africa. LGBTQ issues, women' issues, liberal attitudes--just don't fly there. Whether we like it or not, the culture there seems to be patriarchal, traditonal, and very conservative.

One major problem for African Christians is concubinage or multiple "wives". I remember reading a commentary about how lumping "same-sex couples" with "couples in irregular situations" in the FS document was a deliberate ploy to get some African prelates on board.
