I would like to hear Forum members' opinions on what is known as " The Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament" Specifically, I am interested the history of this practice and whether it is considered proper in Orthodox and Eastern Catholic Churches. If there are previous posts to this question, please point to the Forum links, Thanks.

Exposition is not performed in the Orthodox Church.

We reserve the Eucharist in a tabernacle on the Altar for use in Communing the sick and otherwise homebound or institutionalized.

The purpose of the Eucharist is Communion, not adoration per se.

Thank you Father Deacon, your answer is what I assumed to be the case. I appreciate your confirmation. It would be of further help for someone to also give their opinion from a Byzantine Catholic standpoint. I want to be upfront about why I would like to know. A local Byzantine Catholic Church, and it's priest, has been using this practice for some time and I would like to know if it is appropriate and/or even theologically correct for Eastern Catholic Churches. My question is not meant to incite conflict, I just want to hear informed opinion. Thanks for any and all input...
