Well, I must say, I've enjoyed this thread! I'm new here and here's my icon story: I was raised Roman Catholic and for a decade, was Episcopalian. I met (not by accident, I'm sure) a "high church" Episcopal priest who taught me and my husband all about icons and icon corners. We had an icon of St. Michael and the Theotokos in the eastern corner of our bedroom with a hanging candle.
Recently, we moved and I've been back to Catholicism. I basically came on this board for some "inspiration" while trying to find a new RC parish in my area. My former Catholic pastor was bi-ritual and used incense and icons in church on a regular basis. My son and I are having good-liturgy withdrawl symptoms here. Oh, btw, the nearest Byzantine parish is an hour away.
At any rate, this thread has inspired me to think more specifically about the icon placement in my new home. Thanks so much!
