Sharon Oh no it doesn't - and the Customs folk wouldn't like it if I sent you the proof either. Our little furry cuddly haggis is a sensible creature - it only has one head !! And it can't change direction on the hill because of it's legs !! Anhelyna

We are obviously speaking of different subspecies. The little furry cuddly haggis has but one head. The dear little haggis has two. Feeling sheepish for not making the distinction earlier (and grateful for a little package that appeared in my mailbox yesterday) Sharon

Sharon Dear Sharon I'm glad it has arrived But please let it be clearly understood - THIS IS FOR YOU - there is no one else with a better claim on it. Fancy there being 2 specimens of Haggis - well you lives and learns - and I must say that poor PRLady [ aka Luly ] must think we are all mad. She would be Rite of course Anhelyna

(looking very contrite) Yes Mother.
*giggle*
I believe the two subspecies have different innards as well - one containing Steel Cut Oats, and t'other bearing Rolled Oats. Rumor has it that there's a third subspecies (rather light on its mismatched feet) full of instant oatmeal with brown sugar, raisins and dates.
Cheers from the asylum!

Luly, After reading Alexs thoughts on the Rosary and Jesus Prayer, I was remided of how much of the devotional litnies of the West come out of the Akathist Hymns of the East. There is such a wealth of treasure that you have heard parts of, you will very much enjoy hearing the fullness of them. Father John Whiteford has several Akathists online http://pages.prodigy.net/frjohnwhiteford/akathists.htm I am still laughing to hard about the four speices of hagisis to reply...but surley if they could develop legs longer on one side than the other, the could develop a head at both ends. Is that evolution? Rose

Dear Anhelyna,
I was thinking about your journey into the Catholic faith. What an awesome testimony. One that has brought you into the fullness of the Church, East and West.
>>[B]We had one at School [ in my Methodist era] that drew me - Our Mother's Face and the Child she was so lovingly holding - but neither face was as we knew them - they were 'foreign' so to speak. But they did speak to me.[B]<<
One thing that struck be about that icon is the Windows into Heaven. As a small child you looked into those windows wondering and they looked back at your soul. This is what we are always taught, yet your testimony personafies that thought to me.
It struck me that the old saying it is the little things we do ... well we never know what we share or someone will see about our faith and how it is going to touch someone. Something that seemed mostly irrelavent to people around you, made the greatest impression on you. The fact that the icon was in a school was a miracle in itself. Yet, if you were the only one it touched, then Jesus would say it was worth working the miracle to get it there.
That is what Jesus asks of each of us as adults to do, not to forget to gaze upon the beautiful writings of the icons and His Word, and let them be the ever present source of conversion in our lives today. For as Paul says we hope in our salvation. Hopefully we will never take our faith for granted, and especially not His Church. And as we enter our churches we need to be in such awe and wonder, we sould be saying I know not whether I am on earth or in heaven. Let us join with all the angels and saints that surround us in the Church Triumphant, with an unending hymn of praise as we stand before our Maker, our Creator, our Lord, and our God.

Rose Ah but the trouble with this idea is - which head is the dominant one ? Just imagine the confusion if both heads decided that the way to go was in the direction their noses were pointing and 'went for it' at the same time ----- Aaaaaaaargh - that could have very nasty consequences. Luly - I am so sorry we have hijacked your thread From time to time some mad spirit takes over here - this seems to have been one of those occasions. OK folks - let's return this to Luly and her questions Anhelyna - the lopsided Latin with a Ukie name. :p

Dear Friends,
I really think the Administrator should consider setting this up as a place where our women posters can come and talk.
I think we men like to dominate things (like the world etc.), but women bring their own special perspective that we men can learn from.
It is just that I don't know why all you wonderful women suddenly felt so at ease to let out so many wonderful posts!
Do we men inhibit you?
Do I?
Alex

Great idea Alex! Heck, if we can have a Deacon's Door forum, why not a Lady's Kleros or something like that? They might not want us around anyway...usually because they make more sense than us males...

Dear Diak,
Contrary to what one may think, women don't like skirting around issues . . .

Contrary to what one may think, women don't like skirting around issues . . . Oh our fellow gentlemen forum posters, It is just that the hair on the back of our necks does not stand up quite as easily as yours when it comes to a lot of issues. Like the little haggis we are content to go our own way, we put our heads together and let you guys know when we feel our two-cents worth is most important (of course by that time it is a very expensive opinion). :p Then we are sure we are walking the right way going around the hill, so we don't stumble, in one accord, and let our presence be known, and get to where we are going. humm, does that make any sence? Rose

To whatever you say Ladies, we men (especially Alex and the married posters here), being the "masters" of the house, will obediently say: "Yes!"
