Salman Rushdie has changed neither his name nor identity.

He appeared as himself in "Bridget Jones' Diary" in 2001, and last year married Indian actress/model Padma Lakshmi at his Manhattan home.

Actually though, the authorities in this country are not that stupid. I'm sure the FBI is involved, and checking everything in the killing of the Copts.

Hi Zenovia,

The author in question, Salman Rushdie, used be under protection. The fatwa pronounced by Ayatollah Khomeini, in '89, has been lifted. Mr Rushdie, though still in possible danger from individual Muslims, is no longer under threat by the whole of Islam.

But he is still outspoken when it comes to censorship. take care, wg

I just read about that today in my local newspaper. The authorities are indicating that robbery was the motive.
