My Pastor is attending a blessing for a seminary library and has been asked to lead a Byzantine prayer for the largely Latin group. He wants to sing a tropar or kondak to St. Jerome (someone the Latins can relate to). Unfortunately, we have not been able to find one.

Can any of you help? Thanks.
Justin

Justin, you can use the general tropar and kondak of a confessor and insert Jerome's name:

Tropar in Tone 8:
Guide of orthodoxy, teacher of piety and purity, luminary of the world, inspired adornment of monks, O wise Jerome, you have enlightened all by your teachings, O spiritual trumpet. Intercede with Christ our God for the salvation of our souls.

Kondak in Tone 2:
You took delight in self-control, O wise one, and you put the desires of the flesh to sleep. You were seen to have grown in faith; and, like the Tree of Life in Paradise, you flourished, O holy father Jerome.

Prokimen is Tone 7:
The venerable ones will exult in glory and they shall be joyful in their beds.
Verse: Sing to the Lord a new song; let His praise be in the assembly of the venerable ones.

The Epistle is Pericope 233 or Ephesians 6:10-17

Alleluia in Tone 6. Verses: Blessed is the man who fears the Lord; he shall delight exceedingly in His commandments. Alleluia (3X)
His seed shall be mighty upon the earth. Alleluia (3X)

The Gospel is Pericope 64 or Luke 12:8-12.

Troparion of June 15,
Our holy father Jerome of Stridon

Tone 3

The assembly of the Orthodox has you *
as a great intercessor, O divinely wise one, *
since you are one who converses with the
venerable, *
and are a sharer in divine wisdom, *
so, all-wondrous Jerome, *
entreat Christ God to grant us great mercy.

Kontakion, Tone 8

With hymns let us extol the praiseworthy Jerome,*
the most venerable among the venerable, *
and the most blessed among the blessed, *
the instructor and helper of the faithful, *
crying out to him with love: *
Rejoice, O divinely wise father!

Dear Justin, I came across this kondak in one of the Uniontown books in Tone 3 for Jerome (whom the Greeks often refer to as Hieronymous of Stridonium):
Delighting in purity, O wise in God, you repressed the urges of the flesh, You glowed with faith and bloomed like an orchard in paradise, O priest and father Jerome.

The Uniontown book included basically the same troparia I gave you in Tone 8, as does Archbishop Raya in BDW, but Raya does not give a kondak.
