Glory to Jesus Christ!

I am looking for a Canon Lawyer that a friend of mine would like to ask some questions of. I am not looking for someone who thinks they know Canon Law, but someone who has a degree in Canon Law and knows the Eastern Code.

Thanks
Subdeacon Peter M. Preble

Dear Subdeacon,

If he knows the Eastern ways, he shouldn't be calling himself a canon lawyer . . . wink

Dear Peter, Kyr David Motiuk, Auxiliary Bishop of Winnipeg, is not only a Ukrainian Catholic bishop but also has a master's in canon law from St. Paul University/Ottawa and a doctorate in canon law from the Orientalium. His doctoral dissertation was on particular law. You might try contacting him in Winnipeg:

Diak beat me to it, but let me second his recommendation, adding only that Kyr David is not simply a canon lawyer but a lovely man: very humble and warm-hearted, down-to-earth, and possessed of a quick wit. I have great confidence in the future of our Church when I look to hierarchs such as him.

Amongst the Eastern Orthodox in North America, I point out Archbishop Peter, Diocese of New York and New Jersey, Orthodox Church in America. He has published a fabulous book regarding the disciplinary work of the first four ecumenical councils.

In Christ,
Andrew
