There are now over 50 Christian Avatars that are available, consisting of icons of Christ, the Theotokos, and the Saints. [Avatars are the icons that you can associate with your login identity that are displayed whenever you post.]

We would appreciate feedback on the use of Christian icons as avatars. Are icons of Christ, His Mother, and the Saints appropriate for use in an internet community such as this one? If yes, is the selection and the quality of the images acceptable? Or maybe the non-Christian icons should be removed?

To select an avatar click on "my profile" at the top of any page and then click on "View / Update Profile" and then scroll down to "Avatar Image" and click on "Select a different Avatar Image" and follow the directions.

[We apologize for there being no name associated with each icon. The bulletin board software does not have the ability to provide a name with each icon. If the icons prove to be popular a special preview page can be created at some future date.]

I appreciate your announcment on this! Please keep us informed if there are any more. Would like to have either St. Basil or St. Patrick. But COOL!

There is a way for you to know who the person is by clicking on your RIGHT mouse button on the icon and then click "properties" and it'll show you the name of the person in jpg file. So there is a way!

Have a good day.

SPDundas

PS, the person I chose is St. John Chyrosotom. biggrin

Dear Administrator,

The new avatars are pretty good. May I suggest the addition of icons of our New Martyrs and Confessors? Also, I have seen an icon of the brothers, Sts. Peter and Andrew together, that I would consider.

Have a Blessed Day !!!

Well, I never did locate Saint John, but found two other Evangelists there. This one is of Saint Paul.
See you later,

Some Saints really were squished. St. Margaret Clitherow was "pressed" to death. My choice is Sts. Cyril and Methodius.

Both St. Basil the Great and St. Patrick of Ireland are now available. The St. Patrick icon is not the greatest looking but it is the only one in my collection without having to scan.

The icon of St. Ephraim the Syrian for Mor Ephrem has been resampled and re-uploaded.

If anyone has a specific request, please let us know (but no guarantees we will have the time immediately when you ask). You can also send me an electronic jpg or gif image and we can resize and put it online for your use.

Thanks to Angela the Scot for suggesting the idea!

Wow - they are great - thank you so much Admin for managing to put these ones on.

If I e-mail you one that I really really like is it possible to have that scaled down to fit ? I have never been able to find it on the Internet.

BTW there are no prizes for guessing which one :p

Angela,

I just resized yours and made it available. You will have to re-select to have your current choice displayed in the standard size.

If you have a special icon, please e-mail it to me.

John,

I don't have either electronic versions or color print versions of those icons. Bl. Theodore Romzha is available since it is the only one I have. If anyone has these icons please send them.

What can I say but thank-you. I've been holding out for these.
