I think the icons are great. With the example of St. Peter (and other saints and blesseds) it will help me to think about the appropriateness of my post before I post it, and whether the saint in quetion would approve of it.

Glory to Jesus Christ!
Thank you for these. St. John of Damascus would be happy, too!

I agree with ChristTeen's statement that it helps us to focus our posting as to whether 'the saint in question would approve of it' - and, it certainly reminds us of their actual presence. And, for me it is educational in that I get to learn about more saints if they're 'new' to me.
I was just reading the words of Saint Silouan, in the book called Wisdom of Mount Athos. He talks about 'do not be surprised that the Mother of God and the saints know our inmost thoughts ...."
Thanks for the lovely icons!
I must admit I sometimes found the sight of some of the 'secular' ones puzzling and jarring when they appeared - I just couldn't figure out why they were there -( except I liked Jenny's cat).

Administrator John, The icon avatars are wonderful, i was wondering how i would go about creating one, and my worries are over! They do help lend a definite eastern feel to the board. Mnohaja i blahaja lita! (in full harmony ) Steve Petach cantor

Hi Administrator, Thank you soo much for the Icon of St. Patrick! I really do notice how I feel when I'm online with byzcath.org. It really really makes me think twice about the things I say...as of these saints, especially my patron, are watching me...so I really feel the impact...of "being good" and being more charitble with words. SO hopefully others will feel the same way..so maybe there won't be any bickering...or at least have more respectful tone here and there. Except St. Nicholas who punches Arias. Hehe Have a good one! Stefan-Ivan: I'm just testing it also, this is St. Spyridon isn't it? That's St. Ambrose. Is "Spyridon" another name for St. Ambrose? I've never heard of it before. ChristTeen287
