The point is well taken concerning the understanding of the liturgy/sermon (lack of a better term) and the possible singing of sports scores or baudy songs. What i have been doing is using the english translation of St. John's liturgy and attending a Ukainian service. It works for me. But i cannot follow the sermon thats the downer..

Dear John,

This reminds me of something a student in a Ukrainian religious school asked me.

He asked if it was a sin for him to pray in a language other than Ukrainian.

He was perfectly serious.

I think you summed it up beautifully when you said that what you are now experiencing "works for you."

May we all reach that peace of mind in our spiritual lives!

And if y'all DO come up with a good translation, DON'T send it to Rome for approval, at least not if you want to implement it in the same century... How long have they been sitting on ours?

Thanks, Alex. Sharon, I dont think Rome sat on your official liturgical books (the 1944 ones, with all the latinizations taken out); if thats what youre referring to, I think it was your own bishops who didnt want them (instead wanting to be a latinized tertium quid that definitely is not Orthodox) and so dragged their feet about implementing them.
