I'm just back for the Vigil at my parish. We had eight adults baptised and confirmed this evening. It's very edifying to see people who have made a commitment that often takes them outside their family and upbringing to a whole new way of life.

A blessed Pascha to our brethren in the Latin and Eastern Catholic Churches who celebrate this weekend the Feast of Feasts. May the Light of Christ illuminate each of you now and forever.

A blessed Sunday of St. Gregory Palamas, the second Sunday of the Great Fast to our brethren in the Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and some Eastern Catholic Churches. May the Lord lead each of you to a deeper relationship with Him during the Great Fast so that on the Day of Resurrection He may recognize each of you as His Own and acknowledge you before His Father and Our Father. St. Gregory Palamas, pray for us to Christ Our True God.

In Christ,

BOB

Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen!

At the Easter Vigil Mass at my parish last night, we had about ten catechumens, four or five candidates, and two confirmands.

In choosing their patron saints, there were a lot of St. Michaels for the guys and a lot of St. Elizabeths for the ladies. There were also a couple of St. Joans as well as St. George, St. Joachim, St. Catherine, St. Catalina, and St. Monica.

CHRIST IS RISEN! CHRISTOS VOSKRESE! CHRISTOS ANESTE!

When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him.

Very early in the morning,on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen. And they said among themselves, "Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?" But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away - for it was very large. And entering the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.

But He said to them, "Do not be afraid. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified? He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him. But go, tell His disciples - and Peter - that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you."

So they went out quickly and fled from the tomb, for they trembled and were amazed. And they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.

CHRIST IS RISEN FROM THE DEAD, TRAMPLING DOWN DEATH BY DEATH, AND TO THOSE IN THE TOMBS BESTOWING LIFE---LET US GLORIFY HIS RESURRECTION ON THE THIRD DAY!

A blessed and holy PASCHA to all who are celebrating this day! May this entire Paschal Season bring renewed strength and power in Christ to reach for holiness and a determination to struggle onward toward the Crown of Life Eternal!

Dear Roamin' Catholic,

The 'Christ is Risen, Truly He is Risen' in Greek is: 'Hristos Anesti, Alithos Anesti'.

In Christ,

It's Church Slavonic.
