Dear Rony,

Thank you for that information!

Does the Chaldean Church write icons of their saints?

If so, can one purchase them?

Orthodox Catholic:

You will find icons in our Church walls but they're not as prevelant in our Church as they are thoroughly present in Byzantine Churches. It's even harder to purchase individual ones.

Among the Chaldean people, there is occasionally a usage of Byzantine or some other Eastern Rite icons, but more often, a usage of Western pictorial representations.

Even though we are allowed to write our own authentically Chaldean icons, this is one area that has not developed very well in our Church as it has in other Churches.

Having said that, go to this website:

http://tserkovnost.org/stephrem/egallery.html

Now, Compare all the icons of St. Ephrem. I would say that the one at the very top right, where he is holding a censer in his hand, would best resemble a Chaldean icon. However, I don't think it's available for purchase.

God bless,

Rony
