I am an Anglican Catholic Christian, with deep doubts over whether the "Anglican experiment" actally works. I am exploring Roman Catholicism and the Byzantine expressions.

I love Byzantine devotion; however, I feel quite out of place in Orthodox liturgy. I am a westerner. I am learning more and more and reading books by St Vlad's Press every week. I love it. However, I am resolute in upholding the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady and the doctrine of original sin. Nevertheless, I fundamentally hold to the Seven Ecumenical Councils and the Sacred Scriptures as dogmatically authoritative.

May Our Lady and all the saints, and you my brothers and sisters pray for me to the Lord as I continue on my journey.

in Christ,
Marshall

Personally, I'd take the Anglican Use over the modern Roman Catholic Mass any day.
Me too! Sorry Orthodox Catholic I misunderstood your use of "liberal". I agree with you. As for bonny King Chuck I did not venerate him.Thank God that my anglican"sim" started to flower into Catholicism I left the Church although I do miss the olde English. wink

Coming from an Anglican background the Latin Rite would be the next step in a more "orthodox" direction. For me the Byzantine Rite is awsome with it's ritual and what not's but Catholicism (New Mass Order) is very close to the BAS used in the Anglican Church so the Anglican could attend and follow along without a missal.

"Holy Mother of God Pray for us."

Abba Isidore the Priest:
When I was younger and remained in my cell I set no limit to prayer; the night was for me as much the time of prayer as the day.

Dear Marshall,

There is no reason why you shouldn't remain in your spiritual home which is the Western Sarum tradition!

The Eastern Catholic Churches do indeed, as you know, uphold the complete and total holiness of the Mother of God from the moment of her conception in the womb of St Anne, her mother.

For me, this is a much more positive and powerful expression than the Western Immaculate Conception doctrine that simply states Our Lady was preserved from contracting the stain of Original Sin.

But to each his own!

The Anglican Rite is as much Catholic as any other and any other Particular Church.

I look forward to the day when there will be a fully integrated Particular Anglican Church!

As the Venerable Cardinal Newman said, we are to build on the truth we already possess.

That process never ends.

Alex

We have our wonderful Fellowship of Saint Alban and Saint Sergius, which has the patronage of several Orthodox and Anglican bishops and which promotes the continuing ecumencial relationship between these two great Christian traditions.

The Fellowship suppliments the official meetings between the bishops of our respective communions and the fellowship our two communions share as members of the World and National Council of Churches.

Dear Axios,

Yes, I believe Timothy Ware (now Bishop Kallistos) was highly involved in the Fellowship of Saint Alban and Saint Sergius before he converted to Orthodoxy. Ware of course being an Anglican prior to being Orthodox.

yours in Christ,
Marshall
