Dear Friends,

Today is the Old Calendar feast of the Annunciation of our Most Holy Sovereign Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary.

St Theophane the Recluse wrote concerning this Feast that when we partake of the Holy Communion of the Most Holy and Most Pure Body and Blood of OLGS Jesus Christ, we should recall that it is that Body and Blood that our Lord took from His Mother that we are consuming.

He reminds us that we should highly honour and venerate the Most Holy Mother of God not only as our great Intercessor and Protection before the throne of Almighty God in Heaven, but also as our true spiritual Mother, the Mother of the Body of Christ that is the Church, who truly nourishes us through the Body and Blood of Her Son, OLGS Jesus Christ.

Holy Communion is thus the Divine "Milk" of the Most Holy Theotokos and our true Mother by which she nourishes us.

Holy Hierarch Theophane, pray unto God for us!

A blessed feast day to all Old Calendarists on this great Feast!

Alex
