Dear All,

As a very Traditional Roman Rite Catholic, I find this site very disturbing. I see it as a mockery of the true Apostolic Faith. I attended an Episcopal church a few times before becoming Catholic. I decided it was not for me when the "Priestess" said that homosexuality and self gratification were valid expressions of human sexuality and did not constitute sin. (She used less polite terms)

All this group is doing is attempting to destroy Christianity. They had several non-christians in their "Dancing Saints" Icon. they made a mockery of the holy Eastern Tradition adn of Catholicism in general. If I had seen this "church" before converting, I would have firmly entrinched myself as the most conservative of Southern Babtists.

In regards to the Seder (passover Meal) according to Catholic and Orthodox theology, it is celebrated at every Mass/Divine Liturgy.

I for one an going to say a pray for them and why not us too....

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil; may God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the divine power, thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

I just don't know what to say about this Church...

It's not just the Episcopalians who are putting non-Christians in their churches.

Corpus Christi University Parish, serving the University of Toledo, Toledo, Ohio, has these non-Catholics in the bapistry of the church:

Martin Luther King, Jr. and Gandhi.

Corpus Christi also has Dorothy Day and Thomas Merton as two Catholics [they also have Saint Therese of Liseux] in the baptistry.

The pastor of Corpus Christi dissented from Humanae Vitae and takes almost every opportunity to knock the Pope and the Magisterium and never wears his clericals. Every time he is pictured in the diocesan newspaper or the "Toledo Blade", he is wearing a suit.

Don,

As to those Masses that you attended at the retreat center, I would say that those were illicit [and possibly invalid].

Michael,

Yes, I was aware of that at the time. The first time I went I was shocked, but thought maybe it was a one time deal or that possibly the Archbishop would step in. About a year later I went a second time...giving him the benefit of the doubt...but it was the same. There was no third time. It took getting a new Archbishop here for things to change. I still have not been back, but rumor has it things are as they should be now.

Do aberrations like this ever occur in the Eastern Catholic Churches or is it only a Latin Rite problem??? [Linked Image]

Ive never seen them there, so if they do theyre probably nowhere near this degree.

With so much speculation as to why this church has decided to adopt various traditions from a wide array of religions, would it not be more prudent to ask a member of their church to join the forum? Why spend time "talking" about them, when you could talk to them? Is this not the higher road to take?

I think that patripanny suggestion is a good one. But I would recommend that such conversations take place on a one-to-one basis rather than on the Forum.

The reasons are:

One: ask questions on a personal level and this will allow a more 'intimate' one-on-one interactions that will allow the interlocutors to be freer in their responses.

Two: inviting someone to jump in to an existing forum can be intimidating, especially since there is a history on the board that it would be unfair to expose a neophyte to without a lot of preparation. Let's face it: we have a LOT of history of which these Episcopalians would have no knowledge of. And, to be blunt, I think that they might be subject to all sorts of 'fundamentalist' perspectives (from both Western and Eastern perspectives) that might be hurtful. (I'm just being honest here.)

Blessings to all!

Christ is Risen!
