Brother Bob has a very incomplete concept of the liturgical tradition of the universal Church. It seems to also minimalize the tradition of the desert Fathers, and even some Latin monks of whom left their monasteries for hermitages for the entirety of Lent, not receiving the Holy Mysteries. If we had a TV at home and I would have seen that, I would have been yelling also  .

at my church we only have one preist, and he serves other churches too, so we only have 2 Liturgies per week. But the church in the next city has 4 priests, about to become 5 or 6 priests, they've had daily Liturgy since they had 3 priests. Right now they have about 14 Liturgies per week. Our previous Pope celebrated the Divine Liturgy every day.

In addition to being very unecumenical, this comment is ultimately directed at Eastern Catholics who, ideally, would have the same tradition with respect to the Eucharist as the Orthodox.Well, dont forget that he-s a convert

Dear Snoopers, But he seems to be wanting to promote a true "Hebrew Catholic" tradition, which is laudatory, but seems innocent of knowledge of other liturgical traditions other than the Latin one. It was somewhat shocking to hear this just before supper . . . Alex

My brothers and sisters:
May I suggest that you take a deep breath, say the Jesus Prayer, and lower your blood pressure?
Then shake your head and ask the Lord to open Brother Bob's mind and give him someone from the Eastern Catholic or Orthodox churches to advance his education.
We've all got to keep learning. I've learned a lot just from browsing on this forum. And I like to think that to learn about one's brother is to grow in Christ's love for him.
Maybe the guy just hasn't learned that God gave us two ears and one mouth so we'd listen twice as much as we talk. And then secondly that once one opens the mouth, it's better to frame a comment in the form of a question and not try to be too rigid or dogmatic in one's utterances.
Anyway, I hope that no one got acid reflux from this guy. A blessed Pascha to one and all.
BOB
P.S.: I posed this same question to my spiritual director about ten years ago because I thought I might have a tendency to be too conservative about the Faith and its practice. He told me that one can never be too conservative in one's adherence to the Faith or to its practice.

Dear theophan: I'm sure that a certain professor from the Sheptytsky Institute has already placed a call to both EWTN and Brother Bob and enlightened them. Yours, kl

One certain professor (co-director, actually) at the Sheptytsky Institute was the guest host and interpreter on EWTN for the Holy Father's trip to Ukraine...could that be the one you are referring to?

Dear KL, I think the best that EWTN can offer in the "prize" department is a tour of their TV facilities . . . Alex
