The Syrian Orthodox Church is blessed with "deaconesses" who serve in a liturgical capacity - they form a choir of deaconesses. Whether they are formally ordained, or how ancient this tradition is, I do not know.

How does the Church feel today about this topic? Has anything new been stated on this topic?
