Niel,

thank you for that info. i never knew of the active participation of the Jesuits with the survival of some of the greek-catholic churches especially of those of russian church.

i'm curious with the Apostolic Exarchate of Harbin for Russian Byzantines and All Oriental Rite Catholics in China, could you tell me more of it?

thanks! Slava Na Viki!

eumir,

These links will give you some history of the Jesuits' mission to the Russian Byzantines and the Byzantine Russian Catholic Exarchate at Harbin, China.

Nice web site. Talked about it today at the Eastern Catholic Pastoral Association of Northern California.
And Justin, congratulations on the baptism of your daughter.

Father, bless!

Thank you, the Baptism was in July. It was quite a shock to my wife's family which is all R.C. Portuguese and had little to no experience/knowledge of the East.

My Aunt-in-law made the comment: "Boy, you guys are really taking a step backwards here, aren't you?" Kyrie Eleison! Oh well, you can't blame them they don't know any better.

Justin, great website!!! You might want to consider adding links to St. Michael's and other links related to the Russian Catholic Church on your 'Russian Catholicism' page. Mnohaya Lita to parents and daughter!

Dear Eumir, Archimandrite George Brianchaninoff of the Russian Catholic parish in Melbourne, Australia is the only Russian Catholic priest I know of from Harbin still alive.

Thank you, subdeacon,

I'll let the webmaster know--I'm surprised that it isn't there already.

Justin,

I heartily agree with Diak, but would add one caution. St. Michael's site has historically been a great info source, as well as a fantastic springboard to info elsewhere (proportionately comparable for Russian Catholics to the parent site of this forum for Ruthenian - and other Byzantine - Catholics). [Notice that I said proportionately, before anyone jumps me.]

Right this second, St Michael's site appears to still be actively engaged in the re-construction process and I'm finding several long-standing (and valuable) links to be inoperable. Most I've been able to re-locate by diligent research, but it could be frustrating to someone searching w/o enough knowledge to independently track the info.

Your webmaster may want to check his/her East Coast counterpart to see if they have a projected date for "completion" (as 'complete' as a living website ever is) and, if it's short-term, delay adding the link - otherwise, maybe add a cautionary note to the link.

Many years,

Neil
