I would like to know if anyone here is either planning to go to the Pilgrammage or is planning to do volunteer work before the Pilgrammage.
I called last week and was told that Sr. Jean Marie is no longer the coordinator. I used to leave a message and let her know I was coming and Sister would have me move mattresses or move bundled sheets or mow the grass or clean out the back of a truck. I didn't care as long as I could do something.
I have left my name and number, twice. I received a message at home - my wife didn't answer the phone, darn it - and (I believe) St. Carol (?) said they hadn't started yet. I left another message and I haven't heard anything. Perhaps it's too hot just yet. I don't know.
Does anybody know anything more? I would feel bad if I don't go to help at least one day before Pilgrammage.
Thank you.

Last fall, when Sister Jean Marie stepped down as Vocation Directoress she said that she was going on sabbatical. Presumably, the sabbatical would be for one year. I understand that she was going to spend it somewhere in New England.
If you've been leaving messages specifically for Sister Jean Marie, you might want to try asking to speak with whoever is the new coordinator.

I didn't leave a message for Sr. Jean Marie, as I was told she is not the coordinator this year. I think the coordinator is Sister Carol (I wrote her name down and left it at work).
So, I guess we just have to wait. Perhaps things will be organized differently this year.

I find it interesting that the rosary and a vigil Divine Liturgy (on Saturday, for Sunday) are both part of the official pilgrimage schedule. Is this common?
Will you please tell me more about the pilgrimage? What does one do other than attend services?

It is interesting that the top photo in the 2nd posted link is of our own Fr Deacon Diak (of course using his real name ) at his ordination to the diaconate. It appears though that there are a number of different retreats and enrichment activities going on throughout the weekend. In IC XC, Father Anthony+
Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai

I am genuinely curious about the experiences of those who attend pilgrimage and what the goal of it is as it isn't something I've encountered before. I am perhaps overlooking some things, but I am only seeing two classes (one Sat, one Sun) for adults. The rest appear to be liturgical services of one type or another. I am wondering if these services are the main focus or if there are further activities outside of them that draws people. What is it that makes people long to go and praise it when they return? Is it worshipping with others in community, is it the homilies, is it the free time, is it the adult enrichment class, what is it that is the focus and goal? I know it might appear to be an obtuse question, but I've never met a person before who went on a pilgrimage of any sort and am happy to have the opportunity to ask.

This site although English may help to answer your questions about a pilgramage. I will say that Pilgramage is not "attended", as you put it but a journey. From your front door and back again. People who have been on pilgramage have different reasons for going on one. I hope you will find the site listed helpful. http://www.pilgrimsprogress.org.uk/

Mt. Saint Macrina has hosted the Our Lady of Perpetual help pilgrammage since, I believe, the 1930s. I only became aware of it in 1999 (being a Latin Catholic, I didn't know much of my faith until I got the Internet). The Rosary has been prayed at the Pilgrammage at least since them and probably before. There are Stations of the Cross on the monastery grounds and a replica of the grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes. I think it is possible to purchase a Rosary with the Byzantine Crucifix. http://www.sistersofstbasil.org/pilgrimage.jsp

Was the pilgrimage originally for the Dormition of the Theotokos when the BCC followed the Julian Calendar?

Speaking of pilgramages. I suppose there will be a good number who will go to Holy Resurection Monastery at Newberry Springs over the Columbas weekend holiday, for Our Lady seeker of the lost.

According to the pilgrimage brochure, this is the 72nd annual pilgrimage in honor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. The pilgrimage has taken place every year since 1934 at Mount St. Macrina.
I too have heard that the time of year chosen was due to the celebration of the Dormition according to the Julian calendar.
