Just to underscore what Joe posted, we too chant Psalm 102 and the Beatitudes on the Sundays of the Great Fast with Basil's Liturgy. Joe, I know you posted in another thread you moved from incognitus' locale ("."), but I failed to see that you had moved to a place twice the size. from the warm climate of Arizona

almost no one sings the verses on the Beatitudes (and I would not advocate singing those verses in parish circumstances). Why not? I have done these with the English translation of the Slavonic Oktoechos from St. John of Kronstadt Press. These are beautiful theology indeed. If one can figure out how to intercalate stikhera, one can do the troparia at the Beatitudes.

Diak asks why I would not advocate the chanting of the stichera on the Beatitudes during the Divine Liturgy, since they are available in several translations and there is certainly nothing intrinsically wrong with them. My reason is that (in my view) it is desirable for the faithful to know the Beatitudes themselves from memory; if the people sing the Beatitudes Sunday after Sunday they will soon known the Beatitudes by heart. Intercalating the stichera at the Beatitudes will retard this effect. However, this is one of those matters on which good men may differ. Incognitus

At St. Georges here in Birmingham, which is Melkite, they have worked hard to restore just about everything.
In the Divine Liturgy both processions are full. On Sunday morning during the first procession as the Gospel is processed (excuse my lack of terms it is very early in the morning, and I can't think) the Beatitudes are sung. Beautifully I might add, the readers do such a fantastic job.

However, this is one of those matters on which good men may differ. Incognitus Agreed to differ on this point. With the Beatitudes in an easy congregational melody, say Tone One Kyivan, and ample translations of the troparia, it works for me.
