Vatican convenes a meeting of the leaders of the Eastern Catholic Churches

The meeting will be held November 19-22 at the Vatican. It will be headed by Pope Francis

VATICAN. Vatican calls a "summit" of the leaders of the Eastern [Roman]
Catholic Churches in communion with the Holy See. The meeting will be held November 19-22 at the Vatican. It will be headed Pope Francis, said the press service of the Vatican.

A topic that will be discussed during the meeting - the situation of the Eastern Catholic Churches in the past 50 years, beginning with the Second Vatican Council.

Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches, announced the scheduling of the meeting of October 29, when he opened the academic year at the Pontifical Oriental Institute. The meeting, in the words of Cardinal Sandri, will allow the leaders of the Eastern Churches "to speak to the Pope about the situation of Eastern Christians."

It's bound to be a hoot with Cardinal Sandri leading - we will hear loudly of the blessings of the celibacy and public Adoration/Rosaries among the Eastern Catholics. Not a peep about the blessed married clergy or the authority of the EC in the diaspora.

That would be unfortunate, if the outcome comes out that way. I wonder who'd be the party watching the flanks, of the ones in attendance.
