As someone who has attended the latin rite all my life and has just discovered the simply beauty of the divine liturgy I must say I am walking away with a new view of the richness of my Catholic faith. The service is a fortaste of heaven, when I leave I am homesick to return. The icons are windows into heaven. I will be attending a Ukrainian Rite Church for now and experiencing what our forefathers have. As Pope John Paul II said, it's time for the Church to breathe with both lungs, east and west. I am not sure if I will change rites in the future, for now I will just experience a dimension of my Catholicism that has been hidden to me.

Mark Paul,

Good for you.

Kurt
Dear Friend,

Yes, good for you!

Here in Toronto we have a number of Catholic Churches with their different Rites, and I've attended the Liturgy in all of them.

If I ever had to change from the Byzantine Rite, I would definitely go Ethiopian.

The Oriental Orthodox Catholic Churches have taught me a great deal about new vistas with which to view Christ and His salvation.

Right, Catholicos Mor Ephrem?

Alex
Really cool, Mark! And right on, Alex!

I was looking through the telephone directory the other day and to my surprise, I found an Ethiopian Orthodox parish a few towns over. Some day I might visit...

It's good that if you had to change rites, you'd become Ethiopian...I was kinda hoping you'd go Syrian, though. :p

On a more serious note, Alex, do you know where I might find a text of the Ethiopian Liturgy online? I've found just about everything else...oh, except for the Armenians, if you know anything about them. Speaking of which, there's an Armenian church in my town where a friend of mine goes, down the street from the local Ruthenian parish...looks like I've got quite a few places to visit. smile
