Just to throw this out, is it possible to consider using Meetup or some other electronic meeting board to have specific on-line discussions at a dedicated time with an agreed agenda beforehand?

For some of us with distance issues regular meetings may prove to be difficult, and this may be an alternative way to exchange ideas and feedback. And one good thing about this approach, all of the discussion text and ideas are easily saveable that way.

I am not very technologically gifted and don't know much about these things. The Admin may have some ideas as well, since he is extremely 'puter-savy. biggrin

Hello Randy,

Have you considered a CHAT ROOM? Where we all can communicate in real time (typing that is).

I'm not sure about audio conference via Chat Room, but I wouldnt' be surprised if video conferences are taking place somewhere-somehow.

I missed this the other day. My thanks to SPDundas for bringing this topic to the top of the active list.

A chat page can be added very easily. My experience with chat pages seems to suggest that they work best if chats are conducted at announced times. The simpler chat pages (which are usually free or low cost) allow people to simply enter a user name (which can cause problems). But I am certainly willing to add one to see if it gets used.

Windows Net Meeting is quite good and allows users to do everything from chat to sharing screens (which means you can do PowerPoint presentations and talk about them in real time). The drawbacks are that it works best with a broadband connection and the server component only runs on a Windows server (we use Linux on our server). We dont normally use the audio & video component at work but it can be used to broadcast the audio and video meetings in real time.

I invite all those interested in starting with a chat page to post in this thread. We can certainly test drive one of the free chat software packages.

Dear Admin,

I can offer this room. Jason, Dwight, and I along with others pray and chat here early in the morning when we can't sleep, from about 1am Central time till about 3am. There is a group of chatters that have been chatting together for years and anyone is welcomed. We pray a lot together. Acutally I think it is a calling from God, because that time of morning so much wickedness prevails in the world. Hopefully, our simple prayers offset some of that for the glory of God, in the name of Jesus. The room we had used closed, and this was the best option for us at the time so we can continue with Churchbulletins (Catholic Chat) mission.

Anyway, it is not used during the day. It is a private chat room, so there are no distractions, but anyone from the forum can easily enter. It has a lot of aminities from voice to video chat, along with a translator. You will need someone with highspeed DSL or something similar to run voice chat. Don't know if it will fill the bill. It is GCN. Jason has it set up on his page, but it is easy to access anytime from a shortcut on the desktop. It is dedicated to Our Lady of Czestochowa. Feel free to check it out.
