I grew up with a steady diet of comic books when I was a kid...and was ALWAYS a fan of the one, the only SILVER SURFER! (I used to have one of the early Silver Surfers - it may have been #1 - until it was destroyed in a tornado...another story, someday!)

I got wind of a development with the NEW Fantastic Four movie - Silver Surfer will form part of the story as he hunts for planets for Galactus to consume! Presumably EARTH is next on the menu...

Just thought it was good news! (Gotta find some these days...)

Father Deacon Lance, had you heard about this?

BTW, Hawkeye was my next favorite.

PS: Saw Superman Returns last night - it was pretty decent. Him saving the plane was one of thee more exciting scenes. Also, the actor clearly pays a great tribute to Christopher Reeves in this role (even the music and opening credits take me back to the 80's!)

I used to have a stash of comic books and Silver Surfer was one of my favorites, too. Now all I have left are a couple X-Men.

Thanks for reminding me of the simpler pleasures of life!
You are welcome! My oldest is into the Japanese Manga comics...the good ones. I don't quite see the appeal! Give me Marvel artists and story lines ANYDAY over Manga!

I think it is good that they waited until the effect technology was up to speed to give us the Silver Surfer, as well as the other comic book characters that have recently come to life on the silver screen.

Speaking of simple pleasures, I would go down to the old lady's house a block away - she had 6 chihuahuas, smoked like a chimney and read comics all day long. She sold us comics at a really cheapo rates. We would go buy the comics and go back and relax in the trailer (it was on some land my family owned in NC), with the big fans blowing, sipping sweat tea, my parents playing cards with my uncle and grandparents...we would go boating on the Elizabeth river, and swim at the beach (but only on the side that the water moccasins wouldn't go on). Sometimes we'd ride our minibikes up and down the dirt roads...and when we were done, Silver Surfer, Incredible Hulk, Hawkeye, the Fantastic Four, etc etc were all waiting for us (my cousins and me)! yup. That was the simpler life!
