In the venerable family of which St. Basil the Great was formed, both his parents and his siblings have all been recognized as Saints by the Orthodox world.

The Life of Saint Macrina, Basils sister is an example of a holy family of saints and how our families should be a domestic church which produces saints.

Does anyone know where icons can be obtained of the holy family of Saint Basil, either individual or collectively?

Especially the mother and father of St. Basil and Naucratius also.

Thanks.

I am asking this on behalf of Theophan of the OCA (my fellow parishioner who still needs prayers).

Dear Elizabeth Maria,

Never saw an icon of all of them together, but the Ukrainian language book on the teachings of St Basil published by the Basilian press has a Western picture with all of them assembled.

You might wish to try the Ruthenian Basilian Sisters who organize the annual Odpust in the U.S.

St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Wilkes-Barre, PA has a large icon of the Family of St. Basil on the back wall of their church, along with icons of other "families" of saints: Martha and Mary, Cyril and Methodius, and Sophia and her children.

The icon is by Ray Mastroberte (70x7 on this Forum, and my dad).

Good question, Alex.

Dave, could you kindly ask your dad if an Icon or Icon print is available for purchase or if he knows of other icons.
Thanks.

I painted this icon of the family of Saint Basil about 10 years ago as Chtec previously described. Sorry, I do not have prints of it, but post it here for your reference.

Ray,

Your icon is so lovely.

Could you take some photos of it and then have them mounted and available for sale?

Dear Secret Squirrel,

After my aunt's will goes through, I think I actually WOULD be able to purchase the icon with the church surrounding it . . .

However, it would only be on condition that the parish would be willing to come into union with Rome . . .

As the new owner and as an EC, I am under orders from the Vatican . . . smile smile

It's beautiful. I would love to show our priest. Since he doesn't 'computer' biggrin I will have to print it out. He depends on eveyone else in the church to take care of the computer needs, especially the secretary.

Dr Roman,

I believe the church is already in communion with Rome. If your aunt's will does go through, do you want them to leave union, and then re-enter union when you purchase the church oops, I mean icon? biggrin

Dear Ray,

May we have permission to print out a copy of your photo (black and white) for use in our Church newsletter?

If so, would you like a copy of our Church newsletter for your files? I think we might be able to send you the file via email.

I am hoping that you can make a printed icon available as I would love to have a copy.

In Christ,
Elizabeth
