For St. Nicholas parish in Barberton, the Feast Day of their patron saint for the year 2013 will long be remembered. The congregation was honored by the presence of not only Bishop John, but also of two bishops visiting from Europe.
From the Archeparchy of Presov, Slovakia, we were blessed to receive Auxiliary Bishop, Milan Lach SJ, and from Hajdúdorog, Hungary, Bishop Péter Fülöp Kocsis. Both were in the United States for the December 4th ordination and enthronement of the Very Reverend Kurt Burnette, as the fifth bishop of the Eparchy of Passaic. Con-celebrating the Liturgy with the bishops were pastor Fr. Miron Kerul'-Kmec, and visiting priests Fr. Richard Plishka, Fr. Marek Visnovsky and Fr. Peter Sturak from Slovakia. Participating deacons were Fr. Deacon Robert Lee and Fr. Deacon Richard Cripps. The sanctuary was also filled with the many altar servers in attendance.
Witnessing the holiness of these three bishops celebrating the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, was certainly a most moving experience for all of those who were there. By the grace of God, the congregation of St. Nicholas church was able to experience this once in a lifetime edifying event.
Following the Liturgy, a reception with light refreshments was held in the church hall, where all had the opportunity to personally meet, and share fellowship, with these special guests.
